Year 9 to Year 10

As learners approach the end of Key Stage 3, they are about to take an important step in their educational journey — the transition to Key Stage 4. This is an exciting time, as students begin to shape their own pathways by selecting the subjects they will study for GCSE and other accredited qualifications over the next two years.

At Gowerton, we are committed to ensuring that every learner receives the guidance and support they need to make well-informed decisions. Over the autumn term, students will take part in assemblies, Information evenings and one-to-one discussions designed to help them understand the range of courses available, the expectations of each subject, and how their choices align with their future aspirations. Our staff, careers advisor, and form tutors will all play a key role in supporting this process.

Choosing the right combination of subjects is vital — not only to maintain motivation and enjoyment over the next two years, but also to open doors to future opportunities in further education, apprenticeships, and employment.

We encourage parents and carers to discuss these options at home and to attend our Options Information Evening, where we will explain the process in more detail and answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help each student make confident and informed decisions about their next steps.
