The Big Conversation

On October 3rd, 2025, members of the Year 7 Council visited Swansea Waterfront Museum to attend a talk by British novelist and founder of the Women’s Prize for Fiction, Kate Mosse. The talk was about the follow up to her books ‘The Labyrinth’, ‘The Map of Bones’ and ‘Warrior Queens’ which is called ‘Feminist History for Every Day of the Year’.

Kate Mosse spoke about some of the notable women featured in her book and answered questions from the audience. Using Iola’s extensive research into the topic, we asked about her views on feminism and who she considered to be her “favourite” feminist (she said it was her mum!). Kate Mosse was particularly impressed by Evan’s question on what inspired her to fight for equal rights, and she personally signed Darcy’s new copy of the book before posing for a selfie with us.

We were then tasked to write on a sticky note what feminism means to us and who our favourite feminist is. After the event, we got back on the minibus to Gowerton and prepared a report for the School Council meeting at the end of the month.
