As part of the week of Remembrance Services at Gowerton Year 7 had their assembly today. After singing the hymn ‘Calon Lan’ they listened intently to the Senior Prefect Team and Miss Lawlor explaining the significance of Remembrance.
Ayaan, Head Boy described the importance of Remembrance followed by Jemimah, Head Girl explaining why we wear a poppy. Miss Lawlor read the poignant poem ‘In Flanders’ Fields’ by John McRae. Deputy Headboy, Tom and Deputy Headgirl, Molly read examples of Gowertonians that had lost their lives in both World War. The emphasis of the service was to remember these were young men from our villages, from our school.
After the minute’s silence Evie Year 10 played the Last Post beautifully while Anton Year 7, in his Sea Cadet uniform, placed a wreath at the memorial.
